The Environmental Enforcement department interprets
and enforces federal, state and local laws relating to land development
and the environment. This department serves as a liaison to federal and
state agencies for environmental affairs. Additionally, the department
issues Land Disturbing Activity permits and administers the Georgia Information
System (GIS) data sales program. Erosion and sediment concerns are received
by this department. Inspections are conducted to enforce the following
ordinances:
• Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control
• Water Supply Watershed Protection
• River Corridor Protection
• Mountain Protection
• Wetland Protection
• Flood Damage Prevention
• Parks for Recreational Vehicles
• Subdivisions
