Adopt-A-Road

Gregg Baggett - Lamar Paris - Leslie George

Union County, in conjunction with North Georgia Resource Management Authority, has introduced the Adopt-A-Highway program for anyone interested in helping to combat the ever-growing litter problem in the county.

Commissioner Paris has selected Environmental Enforcement and Education Officer, Gregg Baggett to head up these efforts. Records indicate that in counties that have implemented this program, the litter has been greatly reduced.

Anyone or any group wishing to adopt a mile-long portion of a county road should contact Baggett at 439-6057. Volunteers will be provided with safety vests and signs will be posted designating which road they have adopted. The road must be picked up at least 4 times a year, but of course, it can be done more often if the volunteers want to.
