The Union County Recreation Department offers a variety of leisure activities for everyone of all ages.

Programs we offer include Youth and Adult sports, Youth Leisure activities, Adult Leisure activities, Senior programs and Therapeutics and a diversified slate of special events. The Union County Recreation department office is located at Meek's Park in Blairsville. Please come by Meek's Park for more information on the Park or any program that we might be offering.

Meek's Park Staff

Located about 1 mile west of Blairsville on Highway 515, Meeks Park is open to the public. It was established in 1991 and named after Bill Meeks. The park consists of 4 baseball fields, 3 softball fields, and 4 batting cages. It also includes a T-ball field, and a utility field, which can host an array of activities.

Butternut Creek and Nottely River run through
the park for fishing, and is great for family picnics. There are plenty of picnic tables throughout the park as well as plenty of clean restrooms. In addition there are four covered pavilions that can be used for anything from family reunions, birthday parties, weddings, or even company picnics.

All throughout Meeks Park is a 1.5-mile walking trail. It winds around the ball fields, the playground, and even beside the creek. It's a beautiful trail that lets one get the full benefit of walking and exercising while being out in nature. There is also a 3/4 of a mile paved & lighted trail that is for walkers, bikers, scooters, etc.

In addition to the fields, pavilions, and playground is our swimming facility where during the summer your family and friends can come and enjoy the sunshine and swimming pool. Of course we do hold swimming classes as well as some other
programs designed just for the adults.

Meeks Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the North Georgia Mountains and
does offer a wide array of different activities and programs. The Staff at Meeks Park hope that you will look into these activities and programs, and will visit us. We hope that your visit here is safe and enjoyable.

Meeks Park has three beautiful pavilions. Pavilions are available weekdays and weekends. For a fee of $25.00 pavilion can be reserved on the weekend. To reserve a pavilion call (706) 439-6074. You can then mail us a check or bring it by our office at Meeks Park. A contract must be signed before using a pavilion.
