Experience early 20th century farm life complete with farm animals and fruit & vegetable production.  The Byron Herbert Reece Farm, or just the Reece Farm for short, features restored barns, corn crib, chicken house, smokehouse, spring house and petting farm.  State of the art exhibits tell the story of Byron Herbert Reece, the farmer, writer, and poet who lived on this site.  The exhibits showcase the Appalachian style of farming during the early 1900s and the life of Reece himself.  There is also a visitor’s center, gift shop, creek side amphitheater & picnic tables.  A beautiful pavilion is available to rent for weddings and other events.

Notice of Public Hearing and Special Called Meeting

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A Public Hearing will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Union County Courthouse, 65 Courthouse Street, Blairsville, Georgia

The purpose of this hearing will be for Union County to provide information and answer questions regarding transferring surplus property to the Union County Development Authority. This is the property on Young Harris Street in the City of Blairsville referred to as the Old Fort Sorghum Property. Please send your comments via regular mail or to the email address listed on our website at www.unioncountyga.gov.

NOTICE OF CALLED MEETING

There will be a CALLED MEETING of the Union County Commission on Friday, December 27, 2019
at 4:30 p.m. located at 65 Courthouse Street, Blairsville, Georgia in Courtroom A. The purpose of this meeting will be to approve a Resolution to adopt the 2020 Budget and to approve a Resolution to transfer the Old Fort Sorghum Property to the Union County Development Authority .
