About:

Athletics and sports are a top priority at the Union County Recreation Department. Organized baseball, softball, basketball, football, cheerleading, wrestling,  and soccer are each offered to the public on a regular basis.

2023 Basketball Registration is now open!

Age you are on September 1st 2023 is the age you play. Kids are allowed to play 1 year up. You must come in to register to sign a player move up form.

Regular registration for 5-8 year olds ends September 8th. Late registration ends September 15th. Late registration is $20 extra. Late registration is only done in person at the Union County Recreation Department.  Season begins October 2nd.

Regular registration for 9-12 year olds ends October 6th. Late registration ends October 13th. Late registration is $20 extra. Late registration is only done in person at the Union County Recreation Department.  Season begins November 1st.

2023 Wrestling Registration is now open!

The Union County Recreation Department in conjunction with Union County School Take Down Club is now offering wrestling for kids age 5-12. Eligibility age is age you are on  9/1/23. Child plays by weight. Uniform will consist of a snug fitting t-shirt and spandex shorts. Registration ends on October 6th.  Practice will be 2 days a week at the Union County Elementary School “pit.”

NOTICES

There will be a CALLED MEETING of the Union County Commission on
Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. located at 65 Courthouse Street,
Blairsville, Georgia in Courtroom A.

The purpose of this meeting will be the adoption of the proposed revisions to the Union County Code of Ordinances pertaining to Chapter 10, Article III, Section 10-80(A)(2) addressing Temporary Special Event Licenses for the sale of alcohol and Chapter 38, Article III, Section 38-51 addressing Tattoo and Body Piercing Establishments along with the adoption of the proposed Commercial Firing Range Facilities Ordinance. No other business will be conducted.

NOTICES OF ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES

At a Called Meeting scheduled for November 30, 2023 at 5:00pm, Union County Government will be adopting the proposed revisions to Chapter 10, Article III, Section 10-80(A)(2) related to Temporary Special Event Licenses for the sale of alcohol.

The final draft of this Ordinance will be available on the website and hard copies will be available in the Union County Commissioner’s Office and in the Office of the Clerk of Superior Court no later than Friday, November 10, 2023.

The following meetings have been held or have been scheduled in relation to this ordinance:

1st Reading – September 21, 2023
Public Hearing – October 19, 2023
2nd Reading – November 9, 2023
