Business Licenses

Business Licenses are NOT required for businesses in Union County other than hotel/motel/short-term rentals (See message below).  If you need a letter stating this, please print the letter at this location.

In order to address new attributes associated with short-term rentals in Union County,

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 16, 2022:

THERE IS A MORATORIUM ON THE ISSUING OF SHORT-TERM RENTAL LICENSES (STRs) IN UNION COUNTY.  NO NEW LICENSES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR 180 DAYS.  You may print the moratorium from THIS LOCATION.

The purpose for the moratorium is to allow administration to research and develop an ordinance addressing variables associated with STRs/vacation rentals in Union County.

If you require additional information, contact the Union County Commissioner’s Office at (706) 439-6000.

If you are doing business within the City of Blairsville, contact Blairsville City Hall at (706) 745-2000.

No other Business Licenses are required of Union County.

 

UPDATE

A short-term rental ordinance was presented to the public on Thursday, November 17, 2022 as an agenda item for the regular County Commission meeting.

A public hearing will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022 beginning at 5:00 p.m. to discuss the first draft of Union County’s Short-Term Rental Ordinance.  Please contact the Commissioner’s Office additional for additional information.
