Elections & Voter Registration

If you are not already registered to vote in Union County, October 11, 2022 is the last day to register and be eligible to vote in the November 8, 2022 General  Election. If you need to check your registration status you may do so at www.sos.ga.gov or by calling 706-439-6016.

Absentee mail out ballot applications are now being accepted in the Registrar’s office.   The last day to apply for a mail out ballot is October 28, 2022.  Ballots will be mailed beginning October 11, 2022.

Board of Elections

The Board of Elections is responsible to prepare all election materials, including the certification of qualified individuals, ballot preparation and the actual conduction of elections and certification of results.

Voter Registration

The Board of Registrars is responsible for the safekeeping of all registration records for Union County. This includes adding new voters; removing deceased voters, felons, etc; entering voter history; and working with the office of the Secretary of State on a daily basis to verify voter eligibility.  We also are responsible for all early and absentee voting.

You can check the status of your provisional ballot by calling 706-439-6016 or emailing us at ucregistrar@uniongov.com

While we encourage everyone to stay safe and vote by mail, early voting for the December 6 runoff will be held at the Union County Courthouse:

November 7th was the last day to register to vote or to make any changes in voting for the December 6th runoff.

 

The State of Georgia requires that the following information be maintained and accurately updated by 10am each day while absentee/early voting ballots are being issued.  When that time arrives, the following data will be available daily:

The Board of Elections will certify the run off on Dec 9, 20022 after 2:00 PM in the Board Office.

There are 2 provisional ballots to be verified; a few overseas ballots which must arrive by Friday and a few absentee ballots which had issues to be cured in order to count.

There will be no significant change to the attached count.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING - AGENDA

A Public Hearing will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 5:00pm in the Union County Courthouse, 65 Courthouse Street, Blairsville, Georgia.

The purpose of this hearing will be for Union County to provide information and answer questions regarding the proposed revisions of the Union County Code of Ordinances pertaining to Chapter 10, Article III, Section
10-80 addressing Temporary Special Event Licenses for the sale of alcohol, Chapter 38, Article III, Section 38-51 addressing Tattoo and Body Piercing Establishments and the proposed Commercial Firing Range Facilities Ordinance.

At the County Meeting scheduled for October 19, 2023 at 6:00pm, Union County Government will be adopting the proposed Ordinance for Cryptocurrency and Data Mining.

The final draft of this Ordinance will be available on the website and hard copies will be available in the Union County Commissioner’s Office and with the Union County Clerk of Superior Court on
Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
