Building & Development also interprets and enforces federal, state and local laws relating to land development and the environment. This department serves as a liaison to federal and state agencies for environmental affairs. Additionally, the department issues Land Disturbance Activity permits and investigates environmental concerns related to Union County Code, Chapter 30 Environment Environment. Inspections are conducted to enforce the following ordinances:

  • Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control
  • Water Supply Watershed Protection
  • River Corridor Protection Plan
  • Mountain Protection Plan
  • Wetland Protection
