Georgia Weapons Carry License

The Probate Court of Union County issues Georgia Weapons Carry Licenses to all qualified persons who are residents of Union County, Georgia.

Georgia Weapons Carry licenses may be obtained Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m – 4:00 p.m.

ONLINE APPLICATION click here : Applicants may submit an online application.  Within two weeks, applicants must come to the Probate Court to complete the application process.  Please follow directions as indicated on the online application and indicated below.

Requirements for NEW Weapons Carry License Applications:

  • Must be 21 years of age (if under 21, must provide proof of completion of basic training and proof of active service or an honorable discharge from the armed forces of the United States)
  • Must be a resident of Union County, GA
  • Must submit a picture identification including the physical address (if PO Box – Must bring proof of physical address)
  • Must submit to a fingerprint based criminal background check within 5 business days before any license is issued.  If you have questions regarding the various prohibitions for Weapons Carry licenses, you may refer to OCGA 16-11-129(b).  Fingerprinting is available at Union County Jail on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00AM-4:00PM and Tuesday from 9:00AM-12:00PM.
  • Fees: $76.00 – Cash, local checks or Money Orders and/or Visa or MasterCard.
  • The license, when approved, is valid for five years.

Requirements for RENEWAL Weapons Carry License Applications:

  • May renew 90 days prior to expiration of current license or within 30 days after expiration
  • Must be a resident of Union County, GA
  • Must submit a picture identification including the physical address (if PO Box – Must bring proof of physical address)
  • Fees: $30.00 – Cash, local checks or money orders or VISA or Mastercard
  • The license, when approved, is valid for five years.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 1

A Public Hearing will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Union County Courthouse, 65 Courthouse Street, Blairsville, Georgia

The purpose of this hearing will be for Union County to provide information and answer questions regarding transferring surplus property to the Union County Development Authority. This is the property on Young Harris Street in the City of Blairsville referred to as the Old Fort Sorghum Property. Please send your comments via regular mail or to the email address listed on our website at www.unioncountyga.gov.

The Union County Commissioner will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. in the Union County Courthouse. All citizens are invited to attend and provide the Commissioner with written and/or oral comments concerning the county's entire budget. The budget will be adopted at a Called Meeting on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 4:30 p.m

There will be a CALLED MEETING of the Union County Commission on Friday, December 27, 2019
at 4:30 p.m. located at 65 Courthouse Street, Blairsville, Georgia in Courtroom A. The purpose of this meeting will be to approve a Resolution to adopt the 2020 budget and to approve a Resolution to transfer the Old Fort Sorghum Property to the Union County Development Authority .
